Privacy Policy

What we collect

NutriBudget does not require an account and collects no personally identifiable information beyond what is described here.

• Dietary and budget information— the preferences, budget figures, allergies, and body stats you enter. This data is sent to our servers transiently to generate your meal plan and fetch grocery prices. It is not stored persistently on our end. A copy is saved to your browser's localStorage so you can return to your plan.
• Generated meal plans and grocery lists— also stored only in your browser's localStorage. We have no copy of these on our end.
• IP addresses — logged transiently by our server-side rate limiter to prevent abuse of the AI generation routes. Not stored persistently, not tied to any profile.

How we use it

• Your form inputs are sent to the Anthropic API to generate a personalized meal plan, and to our pricing API to look up grocery costs. They are not stored after the request completes.
• Nutrition data is fetched from the USDA FoodData Central API to supplement meal plan generation. No personal data is sent to USDA.
• Grocery pricing data is fetched from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Average Retail Prices series and supplemented by curated Aldi and Walmart store-brand averages. No personal data is sent to BLS.
• IP addresses are used only for rate limiting and are discarded.

Third-party processors

• Anthropic — processes your dietary inputs to generate meal plans via the Claude API. Subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Vercel — hosts the application and processes request logs. Subject to Vercel's privacy policy.
• USDA FoodData Central — a public API used to retrieve nutrition data. No personal data is sent to this service.
• U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — a public data source used to retrieve grocery price averages. No personal data is sent to this service.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate site usage. This service tracks anonymized page views, referrers, and device types. It does not use cookies, does not track users across sites, and does not collect personal information.

Data retention

We do not store your dietary data, meal plans, or grocery lists on any server. All of that lives in your browser. Clear your browser's local storage at any time to remove it entirely. Vercel's standard access logs (IP, request path, timestamp) are retained per Vercel's own policy.

Cookies

NutriBudget does not use cookies. We use localStorage to persist your session data between page loads. No tracking or advertising cookies are set.
